Winter in B.C. can be quite different than the rest of Canada depending on where you look, and that includes our coast! We are very fortunate that our coastal waters do not experience some of the extreme weather conditions seen in other areas of the country during the winter months.
Most of our waterways used for shipping in B.C. have a high-enough salinity to avoid icing seen in other areas. Our pilots may see a bit of ice on pilot ladders in some areas and pilots must board vessels with a high level of caution.
These months do however provide some of the best views! So, this month we wanted to share some of our favorite pictures from our pilots as they enjoy the snow dusted trees and mountains lining our coast.
